This past election season and the ensuing shitstorm have left me feeling very alone indeed. Seeing how both sides totally flipped their lids (well, still are. See: the liberals.) was very strange. It’s as if I got to see how nasty people can really be, and it’s far more people than I realized that are that way underneath it all. Or maybe not? I don’t know. Maybe people like me are going to be quiet and stay out of the way because who knows what the others will say or do to them. Or maybe they simply don’t give a shit: it’s business as usual.
I’ve seen that people are extremely gullible and willing to believe the worst of everyone. This isn’t new. This election season was essentially a re-run of Obama’s campaign with Trump being the “great savior” instead. The media, mainstream/pundits/alt/whatever, can say or do anything, and most people will believe it. They don’t stop and think that the media has an agenda too. It’s reaction, reaction, reaction. The vitriol! The news site I followed was ruined for me when the Trump Trolls took over…and unfortunately most Trump supporters I ran across seemed to be Trump Trolls. I couldn’t dare say anything that wasn’t glowing about Trump, or I would get attacked for being a ‘traitor’, a 'wimp’, a 'paid Soros goon’, because GOD FORBID I HAVE CONCERNS. Concerns? Wtf is that? If Hillary wins, we will all die! Life will be over! If you don’t vote or vote 3rd party, you will responsible for all the evil in the world! (I heard this all before in every other single election. Seriously, people?)And, now that Trump has won/is in office, the liberals have been having a massive public meltdown. Trump is Hitler! Life is over! He’s going to send goons to come kill us all!! OMG No more birth control!!! (Hey folks, I bought progesterone birth control for awhile. It was $20 for 3 or 4 months. You’re fussing about that? Are you nuts?) How dare we have to take responsibility for anything! Have you guys looked at yourselves in the mirror? Do you not see how absolutely ridiculous you are being?
I don’t like Trump. I don’t like Clinton. While I am massively relieved that Hillary didn’t win, Trump is far from ideal. I do believe that he will help tear down some shit that needs tearing down, and I’m enjoying the utter chaos he is causing in the system. But, is he the great Republican Savior? No. Far from it. In other words, it’s the same shit as usual. He might get some good things done, he might get some bad things done. This is called REALITY. Try it. You might learn something.
But, as I started out saying, I often feel like I’m the only one living in reality (aside from my close friends, thank God). I wish the more sensible and moderate of us would speak up more often instead of hiding from the flying shit.
